Aqua for All

A4A is the short name for the Aqua for All foundation. From 2002, this foundation intends to create a link between Third World water and sanitation projects, sponsoring and socially responsible entrepreneurship. By acting as a ‘hinge’ between all parties involved, A4A wants to tackle the scarcity of drinking water and sanitary facilities in developing countries in a structural way.

Water, it sounds so simple…

Lubron Watertreatment B.V. is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Therefore we contribute to the project “Tanzaniaqua”.

In Tanzania millions of people life without access to safe drinking water. Consequences are: mothers and children walk endlessly for drinkable water that is still contaminated and of low quality. Besides these facts, it stood out, during our conversations with the Connect International foundation, that we just had to contribute to this project. The foundation, its reputation and the five passionate students that will introduce the filter to the poorest of the poor and provide aid where it is most wanted, made us highly enthusiastic.

We sincerely hope that our contribution to the project will result in a short and long term improvement of the situation.

Fides products with market value

Fides, founded in 1967 is a breeding company established in eleven product groups: Cut Chrysanthemum, Kalanchoe, Double-Flowered Kalanchoe, Pot Chrysanthemum, Pelargonium, New Guinea Impatiens, Pot Dahlia, Osteospermum, Petunia, Nemesia and Calibrachoa. These high quality products find their way all over the world, primarily in Europe, N-America and Asia.

Fides has earned a worldwide reputation in the industry for chrysanthemums and flowering potted plants. Market orientation, quality care, service, and supply chain distribution are highly valued qualities at Fides, as well as the international group of companies that Fides belongs to, Fides has the ambition to be innovating and inspiring, it’s products have a high market value and produce long lasting returns to partners in the supply chain.

All together 1,700 people are employed at Fides worldwide, 170 of which reside in the Netherlands. Production of the Fides cuttings or plant material takes place in the most ideal conditions at locations in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Costa Rica, South Africa and the United States. Additionally Fides also has sales offices in the Netherlands, Germany, South Africa, United States and Japan. Breeding of Fides products is located in the Netherlands, Denmark and Great Britain. The various locations and extensive agent network provide an optimal global distribution system of Fides products.

Fides and her subsidiary Fides Tanzania underlines the need for clean drinking water for everyone as one of the objectives of the United Nations for 2015 and therefore the project “Water for Tanzania” deserves sympathy and support.

Students4Sustainability

Investeren in duurzame techniek in ontwikkelingslanden. Duurzame techniek in ontwikkelingslanden is het gebied bij uitstek waar Delftse ingenieur zich nuttig in kan zetten voor duurzame welvaart. Zo wordt de Delftse kennis getoetst en verrijkt. We bieden dus voor zowel de Delftse student, als de mensen in ontwikkelingslanden voordeel.

S4S wil aan de hand van voorbeelden illustreren dat techniek succesvol voor welvaartsverhoging ingezet wordt. Aan alle Delftse studenten wordt de mogelijkheid geboden op kleine schaal invloed uit te oefenen op en informatie te krijgen over lopende projecten van de TU in Afrika. Iedereen kan meedoen op een laagdrempelige manier en toch mensen helpen zichzelf en anderen te ontwikkelen.

S4S gaat verder waar de TU ophoudt. De TU is geen ontwikkelingsorganisatie en laat daardoor belangrijke kansen liggen. Stages krijgen vaak geen vervolg en het is twijfelachtig of de verslagen van nut zijn. S4S blijft de projecten volgen zodat niet alleen het effect zichtbaar wordt, maar ook de impact op de gemeenschap.
